The company you will be working for is a privately owned building company, the company offers a wide variety of different sectors but have a strong focus on education and healthcare properties across England and Wales, whether that be on a new build or a refurbishment basis.

As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for providing cost and commercial management support and will play a key role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key duties:

Preparing valuations for interim application for payment including variations

Preparing subcontract enquiries and order documentation

Preparing, negotiating, and agreeing final accounts

Re-measurement of Bills of Quantities

Preparing cost budgets and prices for contract variations

Preparing subcontract valuation and payment certificates

Monitoring costs to ensure budgets are met.

Excellent client liaison, negotiation, and IT skills

Well organised and attention to detail

Self-starter and ability to work on own initiative and bring added value to the project team.

Preparation of contract claims information

Catching Variations and reporting to client

Evaluating/selecting subcontract tenders

Checking material sizes and quantities for procurement

Setting up and maintaining contract files

Ensure that the contracts achieve the optimum cash flow position.

Perform estimations in a timely and professional manner.

Prepare and manage key and large-risk subcontract accounts from inception to final accounts.

Provide input and cost and value engineering advice throughout the design life of the scheme and attend initial design meetings.

Ensure company health and safety standards and procedures are followed throughout the team.

Conducting Site visits and progress meetings

Procurement of materials and subcontractors

Financial performance management

We are looking for someone with:

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong commercial acumen and a thorough understanding of cost management.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A passion for construction and a desire to excel in your career.
