1. Role Specification

Overview

Manage supplier relationships to ensure best service, quality and price.

Intimately understand the market place from which the indirect categories are sourced and be able to challenge suppliers using fact.

Key responsibilities
• To negotiate prices and agree contract terms on indirect expenditure areas, ensuring the supplier relationships are driven to maximise service, quality and price.
• Agree which areas of indirect expenditure should be prioritised based on cost and potential value add to the business.
• Responsible for the £60m p/a spend across indirect areas.
• Ensure competitive purchase prices are obtained for all items under your control.
• Drive excellence in supplier service levels and sustain these.
• Drive excellence in product quality levels and sustain these.
• Monitor actual cost vs budgeted spend and recommend actions to address and mitigate issues.
• Drive internal customer service and assist internal colleagues with supplier problems as they occur.







2. Person Specification

Qualifications
Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
IPS qualification desirable.

Experience
Proven track record in purchasing essential.
FMCG background advantageous.
Experience in broad indirect purchasing and contract management preferred in engineering, purchasing and ideally marketing services.
