We are seeking a dedicated Yard Person/FLT to join our team. This role involves managing materials and equipment within the yard, operating forklifts, and supporting shipping and receiving operations. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical aptitude, warehouse experience, and the ability to handle heavy lifting. Responsibilities

• Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport materials within the yard.
• Assist with shipping and receiving duties, including checking in deliveries and preparing items for dispatch.
• Handle materials using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper stacking, storage, and organisation of goods.
• Conduct basic equipment repairs or report maintenance needs to ensure operational safety.
• Manage inventory using the warehouse management system, updating records accurately.
• Perform general yard maintenance, including cleaning work areas and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Support mechanical tasks related to materials handling equipment as required.
• Assist with loading and unloading lorries, ensuring materials are moved securely and efficiently.
• Use basic maths skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation purposes.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in warehouse management or logistics is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
• Proven ability to operate forklift trucks safely (valid certification preferred).
• Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment repair is advantageous.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems is desirable.
• Ability to handle heavy lifting safely (up to 25kg or more).
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail for stock control and documentation.
• Basic maths skills for inventory management and record keeping.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical fitness suitable for outdoor work environments involving standing, walking, and manual handling tasks.
